What exactly is a Family Support System? Here in the N.E.S.T., we function as a youth’s natural family would. Though Ihesha Aina is the executive director, she serves youth in a way that a loving mother, aunt, sister, or cousin would. Offering support for basic needs, seeking shelter resources, helping with resumes or college applications, and providing emergency cash and financial support are all things a loving relative would do. However, unfortunately, youth who have not been paired with a caring foster family or who exit a group home without having a positive connection to their biological loved ones may not receive this critical support. The staff at Love Dove’s N.E.S.T. professionally fills this gap by operating the way a supportive family would.
